Avoid the uncomfortable temporary crown and messy impressions! Ask our dentist in Holly, MI, if you’re a candidate for same-day crowns.
Dr. Bandy can plan and place your new dental crown in one appointment. This means that you don’t have to miss as much time from school or work to have your tooth fixed. It also means that you’ll be able to walk out of our office smiling with confidence.
First, Dr. Bandy will need to determine if you’re a candidate for the dental crown procedure. In general, you may be a candidate for a dental crown if you need to restore a fragile tooth that’s chipped, cracked, or broken. Although dental crowns may also be used to improve the appearance of misshapen or stained teeth.
Dr. Bandy also uses dental crowns to restorate teeth after root canals and to cover dental implants.
If Dr. Bandy determines that you’re a candidate for a dental crown, he’ll need to prepare your tooth for the procedure. A dental crown sits on top of your tooth. As such, we’ll need to file down and shape the tooth so there’s enough room for the crown.
Next, we’ll take digital dental impressions of your teeth. From there, Dr. Bandy will design your new dental crown right in front of your eyes by using special software on his computer.
He’ll also use a shade guide to select the perfect color of ceramic to match the rest of your teeth. That way, your new dental crown will look natural and blend in with the rest of your smile.
Once the design is ready, Dr. Bandy will send it to the milling machine in our office. The machine will then sculpt your new dental crown out of a block of tooth-colored ceramic.
Once the crown is ready, Dr. Bandy will place it over your tooth to make sure it’s the proper size, shape, and color. Next, he’ll bond the crown in place and check your bite.
Once everything looks perfect, you’ll be ready to leave our office with your new smile.
