In the past, dentists relied exclusively on third-party labs to create dental crowns. But Dr. Bandy uses the latest technology to plan and place your new dental crown in one appointment without sacrificing quality. These same-day dental crowns are just as durable and natural-looking as those created in a lab. But they also offer more convenience for our busy patients.
Dr. Bandy may recommend a dental crown to restore a tooth with significant trauma or decay. For example, you may be a candidate for a same-day dental crown if you have a tooth with a deep crack or large cavity. Likewise, Dr. Bandy may also recommend a crown to improve the appearance of a misshapen or deeply stained tooth. The result is a tooth that’s stronger and more attractive.
It can take weeks for a lab to make a traditional dental crown. This means that you would have to return to your dentist’s office to get the permanent crown placed. It also means that you’d be stuck with a temporary crown in the meantime while you wait.
With our advanced technology, we’re able to plan and place your new dental crown in one appointment. This eliminates the hassle associated with the dental crown procedure. It also means that you won’t have to miss as much time from school or work.
We don’t need a third-party lab to make your tooth crown. Instead, we do everything under one roof. In our office, we have a milling machine that will sculpt your new dental crown out of a solid block of ceramic. During your appointment, Dr. Bandy will use a shade guide to select the perfect shade of ceramic to match the rest of your smile.
Since everything is done in-house, we’re able to get your same-day crown to you much faster.
Some dentists still take physical molds of their patients’ teeth. This involves pressing trays filled with thick putty against the roof of the patient’s mouth, which often triggers the gag reflex. Not to mention, sometimes dentists have to take another mold if the first one doesn’t turn out right.
The good news is that Dr. Bandy doesn’t use this outdated method to make dental impressions. Instead, he waves a small scanner over your teeth to take digital images of your teeth and gums. This is much less invasive and makes for a more comfortable experience for our patients.
We always do everything we can to make your appointment as easy and comfortable as possible. How we plan and place same-day dental crowns is no exception.
