During the procedure, Dr. Bandy makes a small incision in the gum, drills a hole into the jawbone, and places the titanium rod. He’ll then place a temporary abutment and dental crown over the implant, so you don’t have to leave our office toothless.
Over the course of several months, the tooth implant will fuse to your jawbone during a process called osseointegration. During this time, you’ll have several follow-up appointments with our office so Dr. Bandy can monitor your healing.
Once the implant has fully fused to your jawbone, Dr. Bandy will replace the temporary abutment and dental crown with the permanent ones. The result is a healthy, attractive smile that will last for decades as long as you practice good oral hygiene.
